Es Fernandos Booth
Photo

Es Fernandos on Gallatin Road is one of my favorite dives. They make a mean green chili and pork filling for burritos and quesadillas that I love.
Silly me, I took a picture of the booth, but not the food. Next time! |

To be honest, the place has the ambience of a post-apocolyptic McDonalds. Laminate yellow boothes and essentially no air conditioning might drive some places out of business. As testament to the allure of the food, folks line up for seats and at the drive-through for lunch and dinner every day of the week. Don't go there expecting California style burritos stuffed with all sorts of whatnot. A few folks brush it off, since they can't get past the concept of "mexican" food that isn't like what they got near their university. Too bad for them. This is simple, but well prepared lunch wagon type fare. The next time you are in the neighborhood, drop by and give them a try. |

Number one in tha hood

Best. Graffiti. Ever.
We found this on Broadmoor Rd. on the way back from pigging out on green chili at Es Fernandos. Awesome. I stopped the truck, but we stayed in to take the picture. I didn't want to be on foot since Davidson County drivers obey Master Shake's rules of traffic. As quoted by Meatwad, "Pedestrians has the right o'way -- unless theys in tha way." |

Beer Odyssey, 2005

He approached the great yellow monolith and uttered, "my God, its full of beer". He was soon found in a fetal position.
The Music City Brewer's Association invites a bunch of breweries to downtown Nashville each year. They setup in tents and folks pay a miniscule fee to wander around for hours drinking as much as they can of whatever beer they want. Sure, it is a hot July day, but who cares! Not I. I never get my money's worth at a Chinese buffet. However, featherweight that I am, I still managed to drink my money's worth in beers from Rogue and North Coast brewing alone. I wish they'd brought the Rasputin stout. I'd have just cycled through line there, or bribed them to run a private tap to a lawn chair! |

The diety of hops

The Hop God patiently posed with me for a picture. I've never been this close to an incarnate diety before. I must say, I enjoy his work.

Jack's BBQ

After a day of wandering from tent to tent, drinking beer, can there be a better finale than eating bbq?
Jacks BBQ is consistently good. Especially if you aren't willing to drive outside of Nashville. I'm still looking for better than homemade, though. Anyone know of good BBQ in Middle TN? So far, the best I've had comes from Burr's, in Lebanon TN. |
